INTERNSHIP! (Externship?!)
My senior year internship will be with SEEDS Education. They are an organization in San Diego that educate individuals with cognitive disabilities. They specialize in teaching them about sexual and social behavior. What's good/bad, what's normal/not normal, and what's right from wrong. I'm excited to learn more about the education they offer as well as the work that's behind it. I am a little nervous about learning the etiquette of the environment when working with those with disabilities.
My mentor's name is Arlene, and she is in transition of becoming the new executive director of SEEDS. She has studied sexual education and is very passionate about the work she does. We have not yet discussed a project plan but we will soon. I do know it will be helping her with various lesson plans.
